As if you needed another reason to love a Mars Bar or Snickers, Mars Wrigley Australia will be wrapping these and their Milky Way bars in recyclable, paper-based packaging from April next year.

Australia is the first country to roll out this welcome change that is estimated to save 360 tonnes of plastic.

“Designed and developed in Australia by our research and development team, we are ensuring consumers can recycle our packaging easily via kerbside recycling – no more returning to store, just enjoy and throw the wrapper in your yellow-lid recycling bin,” says Mars Wrigley.

It’s a well-timed swap to paper, now that we can no longer leave soft plastics at the supermarket. Mars Wrigley Australia say this is just the beginning of their plans to replace all their packaging in recyclable, reusable or compostable material within three years.

It’s great to see this multinational company embracing what we’ve known all along - that paper is best.
