HOW TO CHECK A FILE IS PRINT READY

Here are a couple of last-minute checks you can do to make sure
your document is ready to go to print, so you can avoid any last-minute delays.

Now your finished artwork is a high-res pdf,

here's how to check
it’s ready to go to print.


TRIMS AND BLEED

Have you added:

- a 3mm bleed as a safety margin around your artwork, and
- trim (also known as crop marks) so the printer knows where to cut your paper,
so none of your artwork is cropped in the final product?

FINAL CHECK:

  1. Open your pdf in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

  2. Click on Print Production, then Output Preview. This will bring up
    a window showing separations and if there is any spot colour present.

  3. Spot colours need to be converted to CMYK before going to print.

  4. If there's no spot colour, then in the Show All box,
    scroll down to RGB and check that none of your images is in RGB.

If there’s no RGB, no spot colour and your trims and bleed are added,
you're ready to hit the Send button!
