PANTONE’S MOCHA MOUSSE 17-1230

Thoughtful Indulgence | Harmonious Comfort | Feelings of Contentment

Each year, PANTONE holds a conversation with designers around the world to pick up on the global mood and express that in their choice for the coming year’s Colour of the Year.

This year’s choice of Mocha Mousse is their response to a rising need for everyday comfort, expressed by this warm, tactile hue that reminds us of chocolate.

“Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute

WIth its sophisticated quality and familiar earthiness, Mocha Mousse is a versatile palette that responds to our needs for comfort, luxury, and warmth.

ISPO’s PALETTES

Earthy and grounding | Peace and pride | Warmth and creativity

ISPO don’t choose one colour, they select palettes starting with a Core Palette and moving into Satellite Palettes. Although they choose these from the fashion and textile industries, we’ve included them here because marketing colour trends normally follow fashion, so you can get a jump start on what’s looking hot right through 2025 and into 2026.

Their Core Palette is filled with warm versions of primary colours as a response to global change and uncertainty. Their Satellite Palettes are earthy tones for grounding (Gravity), urban greys for reality (Urban Space), soft hues for protection and a casual feel (Panoply), and bright tones for contrast and depth (Treasure).

See all their palettes here.

WGSN and COLORO

Redirection | Opportunity | Polarisation | Stability | Restoration

WGSN and Coloro determine their colour predictions by analysing trends across society and creativity to assess future drivers of consumer behaviour that decide trending colours.

Like ISPO, they look further ahead for their trend predictions and have chosen five Key Colours for 2026 / 2027 that are all about the global need to respond to change by adapting to the new.

Their pick for the Colour of the Year is Transformative Teal, a gender-inclusive colour that’s “a fluid fusion of classic dark blue and aqua green, the perfect colour for a time of change and redirection”.

The other colours in their collection are:

  • Wax Paper: soothing, serene, and warm with a natural feel.

  • Fresh Purple: creative stimulation with a nod to royalty and spirituality.

  • Cocoa Powder: a craving for the past that evokes the handmade.

  • Green Glow: a radiant colour for life after dark in a heating planet.

They see these colours as inspiring us towards redirection in a changing world. See them all here and read their ideas for the emotions they expect them to trigger.

DULUX

“If you dream it, you can create it.”

And here’s one more from Dulux. Although not as high an influence on marketing products, it’s worth seeing what they’ve chosen and why to get a feel for the zeitgeist.

Once again, a leading colour expert has responded to “a desire to break free, press reset and welcome in the new” with uplifting colours that evoke creative energy and a sense of moving forward. Their inspiration came from the theme of ‘Just Leap’ that emerged from their conversations about the global mood.

You can see True Joy here along with its complementary palettes.
